But now pressures of work and other community commitments have led to Ron's decision.
He says: "I thought I'd done my bit for the club when I was involved in the first move to Brierton Lane which shows old I am!
"I agreed to come back and help out because it was all hands to the pump when the professional set up disintegrated. We've managed to get things stabilised and I think we are in the verge of much better times. So now is the time for me to stand down ... especially as next year will be a very busy one for me in terms of my own business."
Ron will continue to be a member of the Board which will see Stu Murray move up from vice-Chairman. He is the Board's nominee for the Chairmanship which will be put to the members at the AGM in Springs on July 11th.
