Four quick tries by Middlesbrough damaged West Warriors confidence in the first half, only terrier like tackling kept the score to 20 – 0 at half time. Warriors tenacious play in the second half saw Peterkin and Smithies run in two deserved tries, 10 further minutes of frenzied defending by Boro curtailed West’s repeated attempts to reduce the deficit. But a break away try by one of Boro’s Big props ended all hopes of a dramatic come back with the game ending 25 – 10.
U9’s West Warriors 35 v Seaton Carew 10 -Sunday 2nd March
West Under 9’s, known as the Warriors, showed their fighting spirit with an emphatic 35 – 10 victory over Seaton Carew. Always looking to attack, the Warriors strong running backs swarmed through Seaton’s defensive line resulting in 3 quick tries. A further try was added before half time by a great combination of forwards and backs interplay. A determined Seaton increased the tempo straight after the whistle pulling one try back, however the Warriors reply was swift and clinical, two gaps, two breaks, two tries. Seaton gained a deserved consolation try just before the end giving the game a just result.
