His main position is back row which is the one position where we normally have cover.
However, Matt Emmerson has now left to coach Northallerton and, in the immediate future, Paul Rudd will be needed as second row cover for Michael White.
Coach John Stabler says: "Gilly is a West lad who knows a lot of our boys and he did very well against Rovers. Now we can have a proper look at him.
"He'll sign this week and be with us at Aspatria."
West haven't played since the Boxing Day game. No injuries were picked up against Rovers so Michael White remains the main injury victim. Stu Bennett is in contention again following his back injury and so is Glyn Dono.
