Falcons Duo Missing

Falcons Duo Missing
Don't expect to see our two Falcons stars over Christmas. Stabs was hoping that both Mark Laycock and Gareth Kerr might be available to help out the depleted back division but once again he's out of luck. They're needed by Falcons Under 21's.

They're also both involved in the Durham and Northumbria University sides and contracted to limit their number of games to around the 30 mark each season. So fitting in an extra couple over the holidays isn't on.

Doubtless they would have liked to figure in the Boxing Day game but will have to watch from the touchline.

Before that we have the difficult home game against Birkenhead Park and the away trip to high flying Macclesfield. The sides met on the Mersey last Saturday with Macclesfield coming out on top 28-13.

We went down 48-0 at Park in what was arguably our worst performance of the season. This week we'll have Chocky available again in the forwards and we'll be more aware of the damage that Park's young backs can do.

Jamie Connolly is still nursing a badly bruised hand from that game, and took another knock on it in the closing stages against Sandal, but should be fit. We'll need his tackling alongside that of Allan Milne who is putting in some tremendous hits.

Carlo Robinson has an ingrowing hair follicle, where a prop doesn't want one, and was only on the bench at Sandal. Gez Geritz, who is due a knee operation in the New Year, bravely stepped into the side although he's still probably paying the price.
