Redcar nurse Maureen Best together with Amateur's Seconds players Andy Quinn and Stuart Anderson, a fireman, all took turns to keep Mark's heart pumping while the paramedics and a fire engine arrived with specialist equipment.
Mark, who is 38, was first rushed to Hartlepool's University Hospital before being transferred to the specialist spinal unit in Middlesbrough.
He regained consciousness but does not have full movement. It is believed the injury is to his neck or his spine which brought on the seizure. He does not need an operation but will be in hospital until well into the New Year.
