Okay we were missing Cullinane and Davies, and Stabler also decided top rest his shoulder but, we should have done a lot better.
Drifield are a strong hard tackling side with some useful backs but will probably finish mid table.
In the first fifteen minutes the forwards took the game to them and anchored possession in the corner. Without Stabs we kicked for the corners instead of the posts, as we racked up a few pens, but never really looked like getting over the line.
Once Driffield had weathered the storm they gradually exterted themselves and we were short of ambition and ideas. Once again it was the young lads - Tones and Thomas in particular who showed most fight and they deserve better.
The ball never got out to the wings when we did get possession and any attack we did mount was easily stifled.
Driffield socre one try in the first half to make it 7-0 at half time and then Frecnh full back Helies went over. He can't speak Englihs, got off a train at Driffiled looking for workm amd ended up playing for the club. Wish he stopped on the train a bit longer.
They got another when Steve Peters finished off an overlap and that was about it.
Except to say that now the site is Official it is not the done thing to mention Refs in anything other than a good light.... even if their constant whistling ruins the gasme for both sides and the spectators. So I won't.
Incidentally the Under 18 beat Rovers 48-7 and we don't have a game next week because of the Powergen.
