Most of us would have settled for a comfortable mid-table position at this stage of the season in our first season back in the national leagues. But there's no doubt the coaches want to finish the season much higher and will be looking to improve on the points haul in the second half.
But first there's Mowden who are four points clear at the top despite losing narrowly at Lymm last time out. The Darlington club have set their stall out to reach National Two this season with three or four Falcons Development side players in ther squad - including fly half Grant Connon and Scottish Under 20s winger Chris McTurk plus centre Cameron Mitchell.
We've met Grant last season along with brother Max who both played for home town club Carlisle.
Mowden play an attractive brand of rugby running the ball back at every opportunity and it promises to be a lively game.
Once again we will be changing the line-up because of injury niggles and work commitments which see Carl Robinson coming onto the bench as front row replacement.
Ross Wood, Liam Bailey and Adam Coates will be packing down in the front row with Tom Dixon returning in place of Gareth Eddy who, it appears, has been playing in recent weeks with a broken bone in his wrist.
The backs will be unchanged with Peter Hodgson returning to provide cover on the bench.
West: Waites, A Cheslin, Edwards, Watson, Butcher, G Foreman, A Foreman, Coates, Bailey, Wood, T Dixon, Davies, D Boatman [capt], Taylor, Gilmour. Reps: C Robinson, Stockdale, Hodgson.
