Rossendale Preview
Michael Taylor
Rossendale are the first visitors to Brinkburn [kick off 3.00] as we look to learn from last week's opener at Sandal. There are a number of changes with players coming back from injury and holiday....

Michael "Chunky" Taylor starts in the back row where his physical presence will add a new dimension. He replaces young  Chris Atkins who had and excellent debut at Sandal covering a lot of ground, and putting in some great tackles. He will be on the bench.

Gareth Foreman is back to regain his No 10 shirt, while Stu Waites comes in at full back in place of the injured Colin Cheslin. Gareth Eddy is also carrying a knock from last week so Chocky starts this week.

Liam Bailey is still away so the dependable Andrew Dixon remains  at hooker, but Jon Norris is fit again and will be front row cover on the bench.

We will take on a Rossendale side which almost made it to the play-offs last season, and which enjoyed a very narrow home win against Waterloo last week [15-14].

Dale will be a different package this season having lost their leading points scorers together with influential player coach Dave Woods. Kiwi Paddy Pole had managed 16 tries from the pack last season, making him the joint third top try scorer in the league, while stand off James Bramhall had notched 46 cons and 28 pens.

They will feature South African player coach Tim Fourie - the former Sedgeley Park director of rugby. The 43 year old second row enjoyed a distinguished career in his homeland having played Currie Cup with Transvaal also representing his country in the 2005 Rugby League World Cup.

But the West coaches will be more concerned about their side not repeating the mistakes of last week. Sandal were sharper round the park and deserved their win - mainly because we looked short of ideas in the second half when we had the wind, the slope and a narrow deficit of just 6 points to overcome.

West: Stu Waites, Scott Butcher, Luke Watson, Gav Robinson, Andrew Cheslin, Gareth Foreman, Andrew Foreman, Anth Carr, Andrew Dixon, Adam Coates, Andrew Davies, Tom Dixon, Dan Boatman [c], Michael Taylor, Stephen Stockdale. Reps: Jon Norris, Chris Atkins, Darren Thomas.

Rossendale: 15 Roger Dennison, 14 Alasdair Harper, 13 Wynard Van Zyl, 12 Tom Albinson, 11 Danny Harrison, 10 Will Sharratt, 9  Jamie Albinson, 1  Danny Greenhaigh, 2  Paul Keys, 3  Leyton Taylor, 4  Tim Fourie, 5  Grant Eddlestone, 6  Johan Goosen, 7  Andrew Dauncey, 8  Dan Collins.  16 Ian Marshall,17 Mark Bell,18 Juud Bamford
