Tim Sawyer has named a big squad which will include several new faces including second row Gareth Eddy, who has returned to the club [from Brighton Blues], and back rows Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor [from Rovers].
A number of familiar faces will be missing from the West line up including the Foremans, Paul Moss and Luke Watson - thanks to holidays and rugby league commitments.
Kirkcaldy's season begins at the end of the month and they have already played Dunfermline in a warm-up game, losing narrowly. They'll be bringing 21 players.
The weather forecast is promising so there'll be a barbecue and the chance to drink off the last of the Beer Festival ales at £1 a pint.
Competitive action begins next Wednesday with a tricky Durham County Cup trip to Westoe, or more likely to Jarrow. The South Shields club shares facilities with the cricket club and it may be that we end up playing on a 4G artificial pitch at Jarrow with a likely kick-off time of 7.00.
If we do it will be good preparation for the league trip to Burnage on week three of the new season where they have a 3G pitch.
