The season begins next week with the visit of Scottish Premier C side Kirkcaldy [kick off 3.00]. Both sides will be missing a few players - Kirkcaldy to a stag do in Newcastle while we will have nine of the first team squad away on holiday ...

The "stag do" has put paid to the Stags game - the friendly betwen the two second teams has been called off.

But we will have two new faces on view with Gareth Eddy and Chris Atkins returning to their former club. Both have representative honours with England Under 16's/ Under's 18s and English Colleges respectively.

Eddy, a powerful second row, got a very good rugby education at Hartpury College and played for Mowden before joining Brighton Blues.

Eighteen year old Atkins is a lively flanker who played for Rovers last season after a short spell at Billingham.
