Fourth Team Launched
The club will field a fourth team next season for the first time in many years. The side will play in the Tees Valley Social League  - providing a game for a mix of experienced players and younger lads moving up into senior rugby for the first time.

Unless someone comes up with an inspirational idea the side will be known as West Hartlepool Fourths and will be run by Graham Frankland,  Andy Quinn and Peter Wilkinson.

Les Smith the club's Chairman of Rugby says: "We now have the numbers in the club to turn out four sides.

"Last season all three senior sides won their leagues. But we don't want to rest on our laurels and we are very conscious that we need regular rugby for the young lads who are coming into senior rugby and who one day we hope will make it through to the first team."

It is also hoped to add to the Stags' CaNDY league fixtures with games against competitive opposition from further afield.

In all five senior teams will be playing out of Brinkburn next season.

Firsts - National league Three North

Stags - CaNDY League Division One

Bucks - Tees Valley Merit League

West IV's - Tees Valley Social League

West Amateurs - Friendly fixtures.

Yes, as in Dave's report at the top of the thread, we will have a 4th XV and an Ams team, not a "4Ams"!!!

Slightly confused here.

Will there be 5 senior teams playing out of Brinkburn next season, or, 4 teams with 5 names?

Will it be the case that the 4ths will be playing in the social league and then on non league weekends will be playing friendlies as the Ams? Thats is using the same players?

why not admit its the end for the ams, the way the club are going by making their own 4th team using all available players they seem to be shutting the ams out.
it would be a shame if that is what is happening seeing as the ams gave the homeless west a base.

The Ams will be hopefully playing approx 10 games a season this year and West 4ths will be in the TVL. It's not the end of the Ams at all
