Skipper Jonny Boatman is away, and Tom Dixon is off to watch England v France, so in come Ben Lloyd in the second row and the experienced Andrew Dixon in the front row to allow the mercurial Liam Bailey to deputise for Jonny B.

The skipper is also due to have an operation on a toe in the next couple of weeks, and there's a prospect of work  and holiday commitments preventing a couple of other forwards from seeing the season out.

With the Stags and Bucks going extremely well in their various competitions there's no shortage of cover, but you can never have enough props and the club has this week re-signed the popular Jon Norris from Old Boys. In addition, the talented Ryan Painter has  returned from Mowden Park and will be at scrum half for the Stags as they take on Westoe in the CaNDY.

Paul Rudd is also back in action for the Stags this week. The back row was our best player during the first month of the season - now all he needs to do is to persuade his mate Carlo Robinson that training and playing is better than working, and things will definitely be looking even more solid.

Wheatley Hills should provide the perfect game after last week's muddy epic against Percy Park. Any thoughts that that might be job done will be dispersed by the arrrival of a team which has set out to make its mark at this level, and which scored 16 tries without reply in its last two home games.

As a result Hills are in third place and arrive with our old adversary Dave Scully at scrum half. The 45 year old player coach was here last with Sheffield Tigers, but the team from Doncaster are his original club and set him off on a career which saw him  a 1993 World Cup Sevens winner with England.

Hills will also have Gaz Burn at No 8 who ran in four tries against Old Crocs last week. 

Coincidentally, our No 8 is also our leading try scorer. Stephen Stockdale has been one of the players of the season and he'll be packing down alongside two others - Danny Boatman and Liam Bailey.

Both are formidable in defence. Together with the new centre partnership of Watson and Robinson, they have played  a major role in ensuring we haven't shipped any points in the last two home games.

So, we have a visiting side which has scored more than 100 points in their last two home games visiting a side which hasn't conceded any in their last two home games. Something has to give.
