Almost But Not Quite

Almost But Not Quite
Alex Best
More than 100 points were scored, there were some scintillating tries and lots of honest endeavour - a fitting tribute to the memory of Alex Best. So was the excellent turn out of friends and family and the fact that more than £900 was raised for the NSPCC.

Stu Hind's "East" Hartlepool side ran out winners by some twenty points or so - mainly because whenever they looked like losing they brought the Foremans back on who were in superb form.

The pluses for the "West" Hartlepool side wws the form of players with their own family connections to Alex with the likes of Matt Holmes and Tom Wilson getting their boots back on and showing their class.

The tribute game marked the end of the season for West players at least but there is still more rugby to be played at Bribnkburn. This Saturday we host the County Challenge Plate Final between Chester le Street and Newton Aycliffe with a 3.00 kick off.

Later this month we'll also be hosting the Fire Brigade game between Cleveland and Humberside.
