We have never really recovered from that awful display but now would be a very good time to put it right behind us.

The signs in recent weeks are that we are starting to put some shape into our play, with the return of Davy Tighe a major factor. We ran Penrith close last week, only losing to a disputed breakaway try, where the West contingent were convinced the scorer was five metres in front of the kicker.

That performance was marked by the welcome return of Jonny Boatman and Peter Hodgson, who both came off the bench, as well as a scintillating solo try by Scott Jordan.

Scott is unavailable again this week, but Jonny and Peter are back in the starting line up with Colin Cheslin moving to full back. Danny Boatman will be at blidnside after his Man of the Match performance at Penrith.

Carlo Robinson is also available so it is a strong West line-up which sets out to save the season.

There is no hiding from the fact that losing to Rochdale will just about seal our return to level 6. Victory would set up an interesting run in where we have four of the last seven games at home.
