It's too early in the season to describe the Rossendale game as a "must win" but it assumes much greater importance after the scale of last week's defeat. It had looked like we'd turned the corner, after an excellent team performance to beat third placed Penrith, but the last 70 minutes of the Rochdale game was arguably our worst show for some seasons.

Victory over new boys Rossendale would go a long way to expunging that memory. Gav Robinson is an unflappable back who can play either fly half or centre, who tackles well, and who goes about his business in a very efficient way.

Carlo Robinson is one of the best scrummagers at the club and, with Jon Norris deciding to go to Old Boys to get himself " restarted," we'll need Carlo's power and experience in the weeks to come.

Scott Butcher retains his place on the wing with injuries Gareth Kerr and Colin Cheslin. There will be a late decision on who will occupy the final place on the bench with the likes of Chocky Davies being uinable to train this week because of illness.

Rossendale have South African Tim Fourie in their back row. The South African played for Leeds a decade ago, alongside our own James Ponton and Dan Hyde, and was player coach at Sedgley Park for a couple of seasons before being lured to Rossendale along with fly half Arno DeJager. However, Rossendale's coach is centre Dave Wood who is ruled out through injury

Rossendale have enjoyed two promotions in two years and won at Rochdale a couple of weeks ago in their own local derby. They are being supported by a former front row who has gone on to enjoy significant business success with his national industrial drain cleaning company.

No doubt their ambition this season is to consolidate at level 5- they're doing a decent job so far having won 4 and lost 5.
