The visitors are one place above us in the league by virtue of a slender points difference.

They will have former West junior Ryan Painter at scrum half - in place of the injured Martin Lithgo. Brother Gavin is sadly out for some time with torn knee ligaments with dad John, a true West legend, helping to coach the Mowden forwards.

Given the fact that our own Kevan Oliphant, Jamie Connolly and Gareth Kerr all enjoyed a recent spell with Mowden there won't be too many secrets between the two sids.

Instead, our coaches will be looking to the team to build on its fighting display last week.

Harry Readhead enjoyed an excellent and confident debut at scrum half as did Tim Wilson until he limped off with a knock on his ankle. He is fit and both keep their shirts.

The rugby was stuttering and error strewn at times, but there was enough on show to win us the points. Now it's to be hoped that we can build a settled squad which will improve week on week.

That is likely to include Adam Howard who has returned from Australia and has put in four training stints. He's best man at Steven Smart's wedding this weekend [best wishes from all at the club] but will figure for one of the sides next week. Adam, left as a prop but can play anywhwere in the pack.
