In the pack Chocky Davies starts for the first time, with Paul Rudd dropping back to No 8, and Peter Hodgson returning to the first team fold replacing the injured Colin Cheslin. On the bench veteran Chris Stewart is joined by youngsters Zac Southern and Liam Bailey.
Tom Wilson has already shown his skills in pre-season games and would have started at Birkenhead Park, if he hadn't picked up an injury against Westoe.
Readhead is not so well known to West supporters having spent last season with Old Boys. He is in the modern mold of bigger scrum halves but has played for Durham School at the North of England Under 18s at centre and No 6. He's impressed with the Stags already and gets his chance at the ground which saw our worst performance of last season.
They'll face a Cleckheaton side which seems to have had a very similar start to our own. They also only have one point despite feeling they should have got more out of their game at Stockport last week.
