The Stags began their defence of the cup in a sprightly fashion in a game that was played in a very good competitive spirit despite the obvious difference in the standards of rugby that both teams are currently competing at.
The main difference between the sides was the quickness of thought and reaction time, which the much younger and fitter Stags side had in abundance. As the teams ran in some very good tries; with a total of 106 points being scored, on the night.
As a result of which the Stags progressed through to the next round of this year’s competition to play Seaton Carew at Lawson Park, Seaton next Wednesday evening 22nd of April 2009.
