It's great news for Gareth who is one of the nicest lads you can meet and who is quietly determined to go as far as he can in the game.
It gives himn a real opportunity to make the most of his potential.
Gareth has been watched by Academy Director Paul McKinnon a number of times and John Stabler has kept McKinnon informed of Gareth's progress.
He will be sorry to lose Gareth for the majority of next season but at the same time is delighted that the club has been able to help Gareth follow in Mark Laycock's footsteps.
Gareth says: "Stabs has been really helpful and I'm looking forward to the challenge.
"I have told Falcons that if I don't have a game for the Academy or the University that I want to be available for West and they have said there will no problem."
Like Mark Laycock 18 year old Kerr has coime up through the West junior system and their success so far is a tremdendous tribute to the youth coaches. Who will be next?
