Our hosts will provide stiff opposition. They are currently top of Midlands 2 West, having lost only one game, and last Saturday defeated Tamworth by twelve tries to one in a county cup competition. Tamworth are, however, a Midlands 4 side.
At least Burton got a game in. We haven't played since the lack-lustre display against Rovers on Boxing Day - plans to give all the senior players challenging run-outs last Saturday being thwarted by the frost.
At least we didn't pick up any injuries, so there will be a large squad available for the overnighter.
Paul Vinnicombe has recovered from flu; Iain Dixon is now able to play after being concussed on Boxing Day; Aaron Myers has had another couple of weeks to recover from his arm injury while Rob Thorn's shoulder is now OK. Rob should have had a run out for the Stags - if they'd played last weekend.
Jonny Boatman is still recovering from the broken ankle he received at Stockport back in September, but expects to put his boots on and get on the training pitch this week. A remarkable recovery.
This will be our third away game in the cup after visits to Durham City and Penrith. Our away form in the league hasn't been the best but let's hope our Cup run continues.
