"New" Faces

By Dave Picken - August 17 2007

Dash
Rob Thorn the former Sandal full back/winger is the first new face this season ... but two old boys are making welcome returns. Darren Thomas is back from his year in the Antipodes while Phil Wallis has made a shorter journey - from Grayfields.

Rob is now working at the Power Station and is fitting in well at training.

Dash is shaking off his jet lag and claims he has lost half a stone while on his travels. He is lucky enough to need to put the weight back on!

Phil Wallis returns after starring for Tech and there's no doubt the experience will have made him a better player. The presence of all three at training is a major boost for new coaches Messrs. Sawyer and Tighe and so is the return of inside centre Peter Hodgson after his injury problems of last season,

With Jon Norris out all season the fact that the other props are making a surprisingly early pre-season appearance is another major boost. Mark Cholmondeley, Carlo Robinson and Ryan Phillips are all getting stuck in.

There's also an array of talented Colts so the prospects for the Firsts, Stags and Ams are looking good. There are more than 40 out at most training nights with the Stags and Ams playing their first friendlies on Saturday.
