West Accused of Bully Boy Tactics
Davy Tighe
There is a fascinating interpretation of Saturday's match in The Journal's report. It begins "Westoe resisted West Hartlepool's attempts to muscle them out of this ill-tempered Powergen Cup preliminary round play-off at Durham City to the extent they had two players sin-binned for throwing punches."

The more you read that the dafter its looks.

But Alan Hedley continues: "Glen Walton and Dave Boyer spend 10 minutes in the bin for retaliation and the feeling that West got away with it and ended up 15-0 winners wasn't only among the Westoe players."

Oh dear. It looks like Alan is spending too much time at Kingston Park and a little bit of Rob Andrew is rubbing off on him. Incidentally ... Alan used to play Westoe.

There can be no argument with the two yellow cards. Former West winger Mark Olugbode could have had one for punching Darren Thomas, and the late tackle on Davy Tighe, which put him into touch and limping out of the game, could also have resulted in action.

By comparison even Chocky Davies managed to avoid retaliation when he was punched repreatedly while lying on the ground.
