Westoe had a big pack but were missing their regular fly half and never really threatened our line.
We were technically better but gave away too many penalties in a disjointed, and pointless, second half.
The good work was all done in the first half, and that was enough to see us through to the first round proper of the Powergen when we will face either Darlington or West Park St Helens. They play next weekend.
We attacked from the kick off and forced a line out in the corner which led to a maul from which Chocky dived over to make it 5-0.
We kept up the pressure and produced our best rugby in a move which began with a scrum on the left just inside their half. We got the ball out wide to Milne and Hare, recycled it back out wide to the left where John Painter was in the left wingers position. He almost made it but from the ruck Darren Thomas went over in the corner only for the touch judge to rule a foot in touch.
Fortunately for West referee Alan Hughes took the game all the way back to that original scrum. A Westoe flanker had thrown a punch in the set piece and he was sin binned and we got the penalty.
Stabs set up a line out in the corner and Brett Cullinane dived over from the resulting maul. Stabs converted and then five minutes later finished the scoring for the day with a penalty.
We'd done enough and we are unbeaten so far. So far so good.
