Ams on Saturday

The Ams hosted Newton Aycliffe onSaturday in a cup game. The game kicked of and the Ams started very well putting the visitors straight on the defence. Quick ruck ball shipped from Quinn to Frankland saw youngster Ben Glaister Smith crash over for a very well taken try. Frankland converted.
From the re start the Ams did not allow Aycliffe to settle and good hands by Ingham and Hamilton brought the home team close to the visitors try line but could not convert all the pressure into any more points for the half.
From the re start again the Ams were pushing Aycliffe but again could not create a score. Aycliffe then scored a well taken try and converted to make it 7-7. Straight from the re start Aycliffe came to life and only good defence by Hunter and Foster prevented them scoring. From the following ruck Aycliffe crashed over for another try, converted.
The Ams were tiring a little now and under a massive amount of pressure, this was not helped by having Foster yellow carded. During his time off Aycliffe scored again and converted. The Ams suffered another blow by losing their tight head prop Graham with a pie valve well and truly blown but never gave up and still tried to take the game to Aycliffe.
In the last few moments of the game Aycliffe scored the final try but failed with the conversion. Final score 26- 7.
Special mention must go to Dave Brown who more than held his own all game at Loose Head Prop despite really being a second row and all the other players who gave 100% and never gave up in difficult conditions.
Well done!

There was good rugby played by both sides, the Ams had spells in the game where they put Aycliffe under a lot of pressure. Well done to both sides.

But then home fullback had a mare of a 2nd half, and single handedly handed the game to Aycliffe.:_)

Mr Lovespuds

following text is from the drfu website

"Every competing team shall number fifteen players together with replacements in
accordance with the Laws of the Game, each of whom shall be a "Member" of
the club they represent. A "Member" shall be deemed to be one who has paid his annual subscription and has played for his club in one or more matches
appearing in the current fixture card of his club provided that:

(a) a member who by reason of injury has not played for his club and has not
played during the current season for any other club shall be eligible to play in
the Competitions,
(b) no individual shall play for more than one club in any of the Cup
Competitions, neither shall he have played during the current season in any
Cup Competition organised by the Rugby Football Union or by any other
County. "

so does this not include west/ams so if the ams are playing players from other west teams them players will be banned from the west teams they play for in cup competitions
