Love Spuds Kids Debate

The truth is slowly being squeezed out and clearly kids bombing around the clubhouse appears to be an issue with some players & supporters.

Does a player or supporter who brings along kids contribute more over the bar than a player who pays £3 subs, then gets 3 beer chits (worth say £7) then bails out to go the cricket club.

I dont want to get too much involved in this argument/debate as I'm never in the club for very long after a game.
But surely the issue here is that parents would not want their children spending much time in a rugby club whenthe beer is being swilled and the songs are being sung?
I dont think a responsible club would encourage it anyway.

Kids should not be 'bombing about the club' full stop! From a safety perspective for a start. I have no issue with kids being in the club and enjoying themselves after all they are the future of the club.
I do have an issue with some of them bouncing on the furniture like bloody zebedee though. Ruining the furniture and running amok. It is not a creche where a few parents seem to think they can leave their children un supervised to do whatever. As long as they are well behaved and supervised i have no problems. Also i think West Girl can correct me if i am wrong but under 16's should not be left un supervised in the club.
Kathryn will know this law far better than me with her job :)

This happens a lot in many clubs and pubs.Usually on a Sunday afternoon when the parents go out and get smashed on cider, leaving their children to do what ever they like.

Please don't get me wrong on this one as without the kids there will be no West in years to come as we need to keep them coming through the ranks and playing and helping the club grow and prosper

There are a load of issues regarding children being unsupervised within the club and I haven't got time to go into them on here.

One of the 4 key points of the Licensing Act is the provention of harm from chilsdre - whether this is them drinking alcohol - to being supervised by those under the influence of alcohol - to them witnessing violent / aggressive behaviour due to alcohol use.

I could go on about children shouldn't be approaching the bar / be in there unsupervised / be employed whether paid or voluntary behind the bar or in the kitchen etc. but I'm too busy!!

It's something the M&J Comm / House Comm / Board need to look at :-)

Can't believe this even warrants a thread - This club relies upon the junior sections to feed the senior one and this is very simple, no kids, no future, you should be encouraging kids into the club. My son has been there since he was 6yrs old, now playing senior rugby and is a product of the junior section as are so many.
The large junior section is one on the strengths of the club and you should be proud of what it achieves and embrace them into the club as it is the envy of many local clubs when you look at the strength and depth they have.

If your not happy with Kids in your club, there is a rugby club at Mayfield Park that would be happy to have them down playing rugby and enjoying the facilities!!!

Hang on here... Junior Team coach started this #### stirring then seems to have vanished!!! No one said they did not want kids in the club, of course they are both welcome and needed. Junior Team coach, you should be ashamed and take a good look at yourself!! :-!:-!

i'd just like to add if it was'nt for the mini's and juniors who are in the club week in week out there probably would'nt be a club. And from what i can remember from my licencing course a 14 year old can be in a licensed premises unaccompanied until closing. might have changed not sure.

CB started it Love Spuds - he made a vielled comment that this was one of the reasons the "beer chit" brigade were drinking in the cricket club and you butted in and responded loud and clear to the Junior coachs direct question to CB.

I am sure Tech would love to have the West M/J back on a Sunday morning and rake in lots & lots of pound coins which are covered in sticky sweets and spilt coca-cola.

.....I'm sure if you contact Tech they will assure you that is unlikely that any such spending took place! :-)

You lot are really good at the moment having really petty arguements on a message board and even better someone has gone to the trouble of copying out licensing law quotes. Priceless.
