Watched the game and i thought West competed well in different periods of the game. Westoe played to their strengths and basically bullied West out of the game. Fair play to them, you get away with what the ref will allow. West needed a big nasty forward to front up to them but did not happen. I thought Myers was outstanding again and was a real thorn in their side.
Hard luck fellas, well stuck at :)

Beverley 13 - 9 Birkenhead Park
Hull 3 - 5 Sheffield Tigers
Middlesbrough 40 - 6 Cleckheaton
Morley 41 - 0 West Park (St Helens)
Stockport 55 - 10 Darlington
West Hartlepool 6 - 17 Westoe

we never really played in their half and rarely got into their 22 and while I thought we were pretty good defensively, we offered little in attack, with a lot of handling errors.
I didn't think that westoe's backs were very good today either, certainly not as good as our previous match with them.

I thought their 10 and 12 were the pick of their backs

their 12 was good, he made a lot of powerful runs. but haswell??? are you joking??? He didn't get their backs going at all, kicked most of the ball he got and never made any ground with the ball in hand. The one exception being the try - when he threw a decent dummy and then dropped the ball because he was celebrating, but the ref let him have it anyway!

Enough said really Mikeyboy. The try was enough wasn't it?
Like i said earlier we needed a big nasty forward to front up to their forwards but seemed not to have one on the day

Should have given you a few pints before hand Spuds and you would have done the job. :-P

I agree with Quinny. We need someone who will take the ball on and make us ground. Chocky was a big ball carrier last season and we are deffinately missing him around the park.

Definitely missing Chockys presence at times but Robinson will be back soon and judging by training nights so will Jonny Boatman and Carlo

i know westoe would have won without haswell's "try" as we weren't offering anything in attack, and don't confuse my rant about haswell with sour grapes about the result. Westoe closed out the match well. my previous post was just about haswell at 10 - how anyone could think he had a good game is beyond me

More concerned with our performance than that of the opposition. Westoe wanted the win more than we did and were a very efficient side. Good luck to them.
Once again we didn't make it easy for ourselves in the backs with too many wayward passes and lack of handling skills. Don't thin the experiment of switching Moss worked either.

I partly agree WPA but Mossy seemed to play better in the centre - he took more crash ball and seemed more commited to moving forward.

What was noticeable was the impact Dash made when he came on.

Let me assure you WPA the players wanted to win.

Agree about Thomas.
Moss did his best but he has more influence with his boot at 10 . We have two crash ball merchants in Connoly and Hodgson so we don need a third.
Of course if you are taking a ball at speed its helpful if someone can pass it into you midriff and not fire it at your head.
