Nobody is arguing that Hartpury aren't a good and very talented team, after all if you can pick your students from some of the best junior internationals in the world you should be pretty good. Whilst the honourable members from West wouldn't lower themselves to say it, I think that as someone from outside the club I can say that Hartpury shouldn't even be competing in this level of competition, be it league or cup. If they take such pleasure in competing and winning at a level well below their expertise, like Spike seems suggests, then it just shows how immature and juvenile they must be. I expect they'd take great pleasure in beating a group a 7 year olds without realising just how sad it makes them look. Whilst I'm sure Thornbury put up a sterling effort to beat Hartpury roy Black must have a short memory since the 69-3 thrashing they received by Hartpury earlier in the season. Make no mistake about it Hartpury have such strength in depth that on the day they can (and will) produce a team to beat anybody at this level (69-0 this week against a team 6 places higher than Thornbury), and my argument is that they shouldn't even be there in the first place. Who's fault is it? Probably not Hartpury's as they don't make the rules, but you don't see them arguing about the fact and it is a definite plus for the college's CV when trying to attract new students. The fault probably lies with the RFU but as they use Hartpury's facilities on a regular basis I don't suppose you'll hear much from them, even though they say they are looking into it. I'll watch for the result with interest and I can assure you West have my 100% support. Good Luck.
