i hope the lads in the 1st team aren't reading all this crap and just focus on playing the game! they are obviously a very good team but are not unbeatable as they lost a league game last weekend!

Hartpury certainly did lose a league game to Thornbury RFC and they did have several junior internationals in the side as well as a full Canadian cap at fly half.. The result and match report do not appear on the HC rugby web site unlike all the reports of their great wins. They are a very good side, but believe me they are not unbeatable if you get in amongst them, put them on the back foot, tackle everything that moves and take the points when on offer. Have a look at www.thornburyrfc.com the match report tells it all.

Good luck.

Nobody is arguing that Hartpury aren't a good and very talented team, after all if you can pick your students from some of the best junior internationals in the world you should be pretty good. Whilst the honourable members from West wouldn't lower themselves to say it, I think that as someone from outside the club I can say that Hartpury shouldn't even be competing in this level of competition, be it league or cup. If they take such pleasure in competing and winning at a level well below their expertise, like Spike seems suggests, then it just shows how immature and juvenile they must be. I expect they'd take great pleasure in beating a group a 7 year olds without realising just how sad it makes them look. Whilst I'm sure Thornbury put up a sterling effort to beat Hartpury roy Black must have a short memory since the 69-3 thrashing they received by Hartpury earlier in the season. Make no mistake about it Hartpury have such strength in depth that on the day they can (and will) produce a team to beat anybody at this level (69-0 this week against a team 6 places higher than Thornbury), and my argument is that they shouldn't even be there in the first place. Who's fault is it? Probably not Hartpury's as they don't make the rules, but you don't see them arguing about the fact and it is a definite plus for the college's CV when trying to attract new students. The fault probably lies with the RFU but as they use Hartpury's facilities on a regular basis I don't suppose you'll hear much from them, even though they say they are looking into it. I'll watch for the result with interest and I can assure you West have my 100% support. Good Luck.

You keep wittering on saying that at the end of the day hartpury shouldn't even be in that league it wasn't them who choose to be in such low legues for there abilitys.

They contacted the RFU and asked to be placed in a high league but they refused and started them towards the bottom. So you can't keep saying that as at the end of the day its not hartpurys fault and im sure they don't want to be putting 100+ points past a team week in week out as it does nothing for them nor will it for the clubs getting beat.

They get a game and they play it like any other no matter who it is and where it is, in my eyes you boys need to play the game of rugby take it with a pinch of salt and enjoy yourself none of this "we will play like men" e.g fight, but im sure by all means if thats the only way you feal you can win a game then yourself shouldn't be in this legue anyway you should be playing with 14 and 15 year olds if thats how u feal a good game of rugby should go.

Try the fisty cuffs by all means but im just as sure you will loose against them doing that as you will playing rugby.

You should just play the game in my eyes!

You make out they are all Supermen or something. Look all West need to do is go and play Rugby to their ability and the game is winable!!

My God! ~ What a load of pathetic drivel! I’ll bet a pound to a shed load of cider that none of these messages have been written by ACTIVE players from either of the two teams involved (if they were they’d be playing netball, not rugby).

In case any of you posturing blowhards have missed the point, this is a game of RUGBY being played between two teams who have both got this far in the competition by their own efforts. On the day, Hartpury and West Hartlepool will both play bloody hard and give and take a few knocks in the sprit of the game and who wins will come down to who wants it most on the day. Just like any other game of rugby played up and down the country all season.
And afterwards, the home team will buy the visitors jugs of beer - just like the other games of rugby played up and down the country that day.
Now, for Christ’s sake, shut up all the soccer style threats and big girls blouse moaning and remember which code of football we are supposed to be supporting.
