Not having a go at the U18's. West have a proud history of producing good junior teams, just think it sound like you were gloating about it. I understand that Ashington is a long way to go for 20 mins of rugby but lets face it there will not have been much rugby played after 10 mins. I guess it was kick off, catch it and run in for the score. Ashington should have called it off before you travelled. Maybe a mention, something along the lines of....West U18s made the long trip to Ashington to face an under strenght team. They could only manage 12 players but sportingly fulfilled the fixture. West ran out comfortable winners but credit must go to Ashington for getting some sort of a team out.

Not once in the first two post was there a mention of 12 players. Takes the shine off it a bit

People with an inferiority complex tend to use the arrogant tag very easily i find? Are you Scottish by any chance?
Also, presuming you can win a league you haven't yet been promoted into, could be regarded as arrogant by some!

All i asked was are there harder fixtures about? Im not criticising Brian in anyway, bcoz like all teams you want a match every week to play in and of course if games against the likes of blaydon, tynedale, westoe, darlington, middlesbrough are hard to come by then thats not a problem ... its just beating teams 100-0 etc to then going in into a harder more physical game lyk the westoe one scotty played in yesterday is a bit of a shock if you're used to beating teams lyk this. If you're playing both senior and junior rugby lyk will, alex & scott have it may not be as much of a problem.
Just a thought anyway.

Why has there been a big deal made out of this post .. We posted the result on the website with no gloating or arrogance ment to be caused by it. Is it a crime to post result nowadays i think not? Well okay then if you want next time we got to 50 points against someone shall we walk off the match and say it doesnt matter.. Fools! :oD

NO MATTER WHAT IS SAID WE CANT WIN. The whole idea of this league is to have competative games as well as trying to retain players at this age group.Unfortunately as Brian stated before there is no rule about points scored. In point of fact only 5 out of the 15 were actually UNDER 18. The other 10 being under 17s some of whom cannot play senior rugby this season because they are still 16 in may!WHAT CAN WE DO? Well done lads. Ashington for there part tried really hard and credit must go to them also..

Surely when it got to 50/ 60/ 70 commonsense should prevail, how ever many minutes have gone

What good does that do for rugby and, in particular, the kids on the beaten team?

I was at Horden v North Shields in the Junior Vase when Horden were taking N Shields to the cleaners.

Horden were sensible enough to suggest an early finish when it was something like 60-0 at half time - N Shields, to their credit wanted to play on and a halt was called at something like 70 minutes

The other week I understand Team Northumbria had only 11 against Old Boys at Mayfield Park. Obviously their 11 must have been very good because Old Boys won only 27-7-ish.

So it can happen that short-handed sides do get something out of the game. This at Ashington was not such an occasion.

If ashington wanted to play when the referee said what should we do when we were so many points up who are we to say no lets stop because your no good? we wanted a game so did they and we drove a distance to play this so wernt going to just stop. saying that we only played around 40 minutes anyways. 27 in the first half and then about 10-15 in the second half was not meant to cause any chew by my post just saying well done to the lads who played great and telling the score as most people want to know how we do but it is never told on the website

WillT, dont take it as if you have caused any 'chew' as you have done nothing wrong and full credit to your team as they seem a very good team. It seems a no win situation on this one, probably best putting it to bed as dragging on a bit and the last thing anyone wants is the U18's to think they have done wrong by winning a game.
Cheers :-))
