This game was West U18s away against Ashington in the North East and Cumbria U18s Sunday League.
This League is administered by the local RFU office (Gateshead).
There is nothing in the League rule about stopping a game after scoring so many points, which is unlike the Durham Junior County Cups, where the referee will blow after a margin of 50 points has been reached.

No I think it aint as well.

There may not be any set rules but common sense must prevail.

No one can get a lot out of a 100 plus to nil game surely. Not having a go at the U18's here who obviously are a very good team but i reckon common sense should prevail and end after a clear 50 or 60 ish

DON'T THINK ANYONE IS GLOATING BUT HAVING GOT UP AT DAFT O'CLOCK TO TRAVEL TO ASHINGTON WE CAN ONLY PLAY WHAT IS PUT IN FRONT OF US.THIS TEAM IS PACKED FULL OF TALENT AND A JOY TO WATCH . THE HOME TEAM ONLY HAD 12 MEN AND ELECTED TO PLAY 12 A SIDE RATHER THAN USE SOME OF OUR PLAYERS WHICH WAS UP TO THEM SO IF WE THEN STOPPED AFTER 40 -50 POINTS THE GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN FINISHED AFTER JUST 20 ODD MINS RESULTING IN THE FEW THAT DIDN'T START NOT GETTING A RUN OUT.

RIGHT SO LETS PUT THIS INTO CONTEXT, SAY OUR FIRST TEAM PUT 100 POINTS ON ROVERS IN THE BOXING DAY GAME. WOULD YOU HAVE EXPECTED THE REFEREE TO STOP THE GAME AT 40 OR 50, OR WOULD THE GLOATING BE DONE BY ALL? IF YOUSE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO COME AND WATCH THE 18'S PLAY YOU MAY SEE WHY 100 POINTS WERE SCORED TODAY. SURELY PLAYING 50MINUTES OF A GAME AND SCORING THIS MANY POINTS SHOULD BE RECIEVING PRAISE RATHER THAN WHATS GOING ON HERE.

Is there not harder opposition to play? Even travelling further south would be a better option than beating sides by these scores? I suppose lyk the thread above says you can only play what is infront of you ... but it myt b a bit of a shock when the lads come to play senior rugby, as these sort of scorelines often dnt happen. Though its good to hear that this side is beating everything put infront of them!

Honestly don't think anyone was trying to have a go at the team on this thread...all i pointed out was i can't see what the team will get out of hammering teams like this. I know you can only beat what's in front of you but perhaps might be better off looking for a sterner test with possibly different opposition?? Don't know sorry , i don't have the answers. All i was doing was saying what i thought
Oh by the way, do you or YOUNG SOS know where the Caps lock button on the keyboard is??? :oP

How can we look for a sterner test against a stronger team when it is one of our regular fixtures for this league!

i find this thread totally bemusing! we are critisising our own lads (all be it not deliberately) for being talented and winning. i for one congratulate them on the result. i am sure the lads prefer more difficult games but if ashington wanted to play who are we to say 'no your not good enough' and deny their lads the chance to develop?
some peoples opinion on this matter is ridiculous!
well done u18 keep up the hard work
