Several Issues

Would anyone like to discuss?

1: WHTDSOB have now withdrawn from the league, despite rumours of several spurned requests for assistance from West whom they provided similar assistant to whilst West were sliding down the leagues. Why has this happened? Who benefits? What will happen to WHTDSOB players and ultimately their club and premises should they fold completely.

2: Sing while you're winning. Non first team losing match reports conspicuous by their absence.

3: Allowing junior teams to trounce others by 80/90 points, related to the above point, these reports are always on the website very quickly. Who does this develop? Not your players, nor those of the team being beaten for sure, it also smacks a little of arrogance and poor sportsmanship.

4: General arrogance. In a number of circles recently a number of West coaches and players have expressed that the best team in Hartlepool is West Hartlepool and the second best is the Stags.

5: Is there such a thing as West Hartlepool Amateurs in anything but name now? If they are West Hartlepool 4th team should the club be dissolved and re-amalgamated with West?

Have fun!

As you stated in your post there are some concerns here for the rugby folk of Hartlepool. However as you are obviously not concerned with helping WHTDSOBRFC one wonders why you feel it necessary to poor forth your scorn and undoubted disappointment on this site.

As for the other matters concerning ‘West’ that is your opinion - so!

Perhpas not put in teh most suitable way but it does raise a point regarding Tech.

Very sad to see any team in teh town go under and I obviously wish them all teh best in teh future. It does seem odd that there are a few ex tech players playing for the second and third teams at West who would have undoubtendly done a job.

While it's not anyone at West's responsibility to keep another club going I would have thought. given teh past relationship between the clubs a few players who were hungry to give first team rugby a crack may have helped them out.

Rearding TDSOB, i feel for them and whole heartedly want them to turn things around BUT why is it assumed it should be West who loan players to them? There are a approx 8 clubs in the town (including the Ams) and they all could play a part in helping out. I don't think it is fair for people to come on here and point the finger at 1 club!!

I cant see how any club can help out, a clubs 2nd/3rd/4th team to go short so tech can fulfil a fixture?? and in anyway, its down to the player who he wants to play for!

To Concerned of Partypool:

You are a complete numpty. I am one of the coaches from Old Boys under 15s who West put alot of points on. The coach from West along with the ref asked me at half time asked if we wanted to finish early. I went and asked my lads if they wanted to finish early if the score got too high and they said that they would play through to the end. All they want is a run out with their mates.

If your club is so obsessed with results for kids then I think you need to go on one of the RFU coaching courses which explains that upto colts/senior rugby the sport is all about enjoyment and if my lads are 50+ points down but are having a good laugh, I'm not going to stop them. I think that the only reason to stop a match is for safety.

With these 50+ point drubbings hopefully my lads will pick up something from the game even if it is only to spurn them on for the return fixture and make them train harder.

WPA, i agree in most of what you say but are you actually aware there are more than a First team playing at Brinkburn? There are actually 4 Senior teams and an awful lot of juniors who all go to making
West a success
Cheers

Some of those points are shocking and probably just a wind up but i am wound up so will reply!

Issue 1- Everyone concerned with rugby in the town is gutted to see the situation at Tech. However, as a club, west cant make a player go and play for another club. If i am told this week that i am in the tech team then i might very well turn round and say 'well actually if west dont want me i'll go and play for rovers seconds'. I as a rugby player will choose where i play! Also, it was discussed by many people at west, the possibility of helping them out but everyone wanted to stay at west because we are all happy! Finally, dont forget other clubs have a history with tech not just west. There are former players at rovers too!

Issue 2- Quite simply not true, bucks games have all been reported on and most stags games. We do shout a little louder when we are winning but who doesn't!

Issue 3- Well Yorkshire sam cleared that one up and made you look quite stupid!

Issue 4- Arrogance? While we do believe our second team is very strong and capable of playing at a higher level i would call it banter! About 50 years ago Bill Shankly said that there were 2 football teams in liverpool.....liverpool and liverpool reserves. It was quite simply a wind up to all everton fans! This arrogance accusation seems to be mentioned quite reguarly and i dont know where it comes from!?

Issue 5- Possibly the only legitimate point you have made! My view of it is that the Ams are a club doing everything they can to stay in existance much as tech have tried to do this last year or 2! I can see why some people have issues about it though!

If your issues are genuine i really do think you are an idiot! If they are in fact a wind up i think you are a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully Tech will be back in league rugby next year.Having played for the Ath for 18+ years,I know what it is like to struggle week after week to turn a side out.You can't force people to play or sign for your club. They have to WANT to do so.I have played for other clubs to make up the numbers and have played when others have helped the Ath out but its totally different helping a club out or signing for them.Good luck Tech in getting back up and running.

what i want to know is why so many people have left tech, for example, jukesy and nick corrigan both signed for rovers but have been at tech for years so whats gone wrong to make so many people leave. Tech also have themselves to blame for not having a youth set up but that has been said on most message boards already.
as for other people helping out from other clubs, i know when i was still playing, i found it personally very difficult to play for another club to make up the numbers, especially if it was against my club when the opposition was short. the only other club that i found it easy to play for when rovers didnt have a game was BBOB but that was because it was where i started playing rugby thanks to donkey hill jnr. i'm in agreeance with Oldge (who i played alongside at Liverpool Collegiate Old Boys while at Uni) that its ultimately up to the player who he plays for and players shouldnt feel pressured to play for someone that they dont want to
