Watched the Stags beat the first team yesterday, excluding the firsts dominance in the scrums I thought the stags were a much better team. The stags back row out performed the firsts team back row by a long way and the backs had much more impact than a average back line performance of the firsts. Surely there should be some stags picked ahead the starting first team come next saturday?

Lets not get carried away, yes the Stags performed very well. What we have to remember is that the 1sts havn't played for nearly 2 weeks so were bound to be a bit rusty. We can't just expect Tim and Davy to make changes based on this performance alone.

It was a good game to be involved in and the confindence gianed by the stags certainly will stand us in good stead for the upcoming CANDY league games and the Pyman Cup.

There is still all to play for in both the 1sts and stags so to change the teams significantly at this stage of the season might have a negative impact on results.

Knowing the 1st team, they wont be at all happy with their performance but all the lads in the squad from 1st to 3ams know they will put it right against City next weekend.

does this mean the stags are the best team in the town???:-))

Horrendous gale, hail showers, first team missing key players. All it proves is that we have strength in depth.

there is no doubt it means we have strength in depth but it would be foolish to pretend it didn't happen and i'm sure tim will have learnt a lot from the game! blaming the conditions is a load of crap though, does that mean if the weather is bad on saturday the stags should play the durham game? i dont think so!!!!! the result does not mean the 2nd team is better than the 1st team but surely it means that we can find a stronger 15 amongst the squad of players we have at the club!!! to pretend that isn't the case is quite simply ignorance!

i dnt agree with your comments olge ovbiously the 1st wernt taking it serious otherwise they wud of put 100 points on you. i could name at least 10 peolpe in the stags team that shudnt even be playing at the club let alone the 2nd team. i generally belive this was a confidence boosting plan to help the stags on the pyman cup final which they shud win with relative ease. we hope.

What a load of rubbish West Supporter.

The 1st were missing 3 players, Rob, Chocky and Garse. Thats it, and some of the hits that were getting put in proved that everyone on the field was taking it seriously.

Like people have said it was a good workout, and to be honest the comments saying the 1st would score a 100 points plus are totally unfounded.

The result isn't important, what is important is the 1sts had a run out and its better that the way they performed was against the stags rather than City.

Surely the best team needs to be picked on current form rather than reputation. Surely if there are players in the second team who are outperforming their opposite numbers within the first team then they should be selected for this weekends match. It seems that the break may have had a bad effect on some of the first team players and the players who are performing week in week out for the second team must be considered.

West supporter, what planet are you on??? Also this does nothing to show outsiders a good solid foundation within the senior club does it???
I firm ly beleive all the Stags could move up if required and do themselves and the club justice. There are a few in the 3Ams who i also 100% beleive will play for the first team in a season or 2!

west supporter, i think the worst thing you said in that text was referring to the second team as if it were my team. i dont play for the stags i play for the 3rd team but that doesn't matter. my club is west so whether it be 1st, 2nd, 3rd team or junior rugby i want west to succeed! our first team is not some sort of elitest group and we all know what happened last time that was the attitude. i am good mates with the lads in the first team on sat and they know they under acheived but they would also admit they would not put 100 points on those lads anytime. these lads all train together and respect each other. if certain people at the cub only want to associate themselves with what the 1st team does then they are not part of what i consider to be WEST.
if your comments are really what you think then you are very wrong! if you just said them to get a rise out of me then i congradulate you cos i'm wound righht up!

ps could you please name some of the 10 players that shouldn't even be at the club? and also the criteria that disqualifies them in your opinion!

is west supporter spence coz all he did all weekend was talk rubbish, was a good game, everyone got a run out which was inportant, looking forward to the city games.
