Quinny

As you have stated in one of your above posts.

"Hope i can answer that, West Ams do no longer have 2 teams as we used to and are now the 3Ams. Ams in name but really a West 3rd team"

Does this mean West Ams will be withdrawing from the Pyman Cup?

I ask simply because I don't belive Tech will be able to field a 2nd string team and therefore given enough time the tournament could be re-jigged scrapping the West - Rovers preliminary round.

Good point! If we can enter as the club 3rd team, i cannot see why not. but not sure on rules and will need to check out ASAP as i really don't want the fiasco we had last year where we mucked Rovers around a bit and cried off at the last min. We could def get a team out now with the influx of players.
Will check out and let you know
Cheers :-)

My point being is that it is predominantly a 2nd team cup. (inc. Athletic, BBOB etc.). Whilst I have no problem with West Ams as they were competing. As things are at the minute allowing "West" two bites of the cherry seems a little unfair, especially so, when other clubs could field two teams.

that seems a very fair point by tragic. the set up at the moment is good for everyone and long may it continue. saying that it is very important that other clubs are not unfairly disadvantaged by our new set up!

That said I assume the relevant offical will be contacting Hartlepool & District to withdraw from the competition?

right here goes...

West Ams are still legally a club and do not have any registration problems and we are staying in the Pyman cup until Hartlepool and district say otherwise. The other year when we willingly played the Stags and were beaten 60 odd nil, no one moaned so why start now?
Any problems with this, please take it up with Hartlepool and district.
Thanks

Think you might be slightly wrong there Quinny, yes the stags stuffed us but we scored 2 tries if I remember rightly, simply because I remember the stags fighting amongst themselves cos we scored, could be wrong we miight not have scored but they might have just wanted a fight.

Quinny

I do feel strongly about this matter and I will be writing to Hartlepool & District.

Let me assure you though, that am not doing this through malice but due to my great respect for the Pyman Cup. It is for some perenial second team rugby players the pinacle of the season.

I belive that the current format is too open to abuse and that clarifications need to be made.

Putting morality and the good sense of the Ams management.
What is to stop in future competions, West Stags being beaten in the preliminary round, 3Ams getting a bye to the semi, or, making it under your own steam to the final, only for the 3Ams players to be replaced en-mass by the beaten Stags players.

Surely unfair on the usurped 3Ams players, Stags conquerors from the prelim and the other finalists.

But so do Rovers, a prominent memeber of Rovers claims the paid players are not attending training hence Kev W's letter, then when anything gets said all knowledge is denied.

Dont get me wrong I have no problem with you paying players, but to say you do then you dont. %-)

As what Quinny alluded to - what will be is what will be.

Suppose its one of the downsides of being a successful, dynamic, forward looking and well run rugby club.

I dread to think about what it will be like in the next few years when the current county champions (U17's & u16's) reach the age of 18 / 19 and we have 4 senior teams.

I can see the club folding.

;-)
