Certainly did my friend - I remember it well because the current U18's (who now play for the AMS / Stags) won the County Cup and they paraded the cup around the ground at Rovers before a West 1st team game- U9's or U10's I think

Afroman, You might want to ask about the injection of cash that helped Rovers not crumble into oblivion.
It was a convenient arrangement that benefitted both parties, of which West are grateful for.

Being slightly involved at the time I can assure Afroman that West would not have gone into oblivion because we decided not to continue playing at Victoria Ground. There were other options available to us but we were grateful to Rovers hospitality at the time.
The biggest problem then was in getting players to replace the professionals who left not finding somehwrere to play. John Stabler saved the club.
Some Rovers supporters were not happy with our tenancy, but the more enlightened Rovers commitee admitted the £20,000 rent plus bar takings kept them afloat at a diffiuclt time.
So it may have been Rovers not West who "crumbled into oblivion."

Amatuer clubs dont need that much money to stay affloat ;-)

Heavy defeats every week, travelling to away games with bare 15 players, not the best but they stuck it out and full credit to them to see where we are now. Looking very rosy with all the excellent youth set up and flourishing sides :)

Sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster script to me ;-)

west should have treated Amatuer players better then i say! west wanted to be number one and didnt look after the players that were not first team!
