Tales from the Gate...
Posted by: the Gateman (IP Logged)

On Saturday at about 3.20 pm three Carlisle supporters arrived at West. They were clutching Rovers programmes and said they had mistakenly gone to the Friarage. Realising their mistake they hurriedly got back in the car and asked about a refund. "No", said the kindly Rovers gatemen, "tough luck". Being gentlemen we admitted them for nothing and hoped they would take home a good impression of our town in spite of this shabby treatment.

No doubt now they wished they had stopped at the Friarage and seen a competitive game! (And enjoyed a good pint?):oD

Surely that's not true? If it is, it reflects very badly on Rovers.

It also doesn't show the Carlisle fans in question in the best light either who are obviously a little thick!

Wonderfish - why don't you get straight to the point :oD:oD

FAO of all Carlisle fans - West Hartlepool fans / players don't think you are thick.

To be fair to Riovers once the gatemoney had been rung into the computerised till at the turnstile it would have been very difficult to find a way of making a refund.

I'm sorry but if you don't twig you're at the wrong place when the sign at the gate says Rovers not West and it's obviously not your players warming up on the pitch then you are indeed a simpleton.

However this is coming from Driffield team who despite having played West numerous times in recent years managed to get the bus stuck in a back alley behind a royal naval club in Hartlepool, as they blindly trusted some idiot with a sat nav.

:oD:oD Nice one Wonderfish! ... so the Sat Nav took you to our correspondence address in town, not the ground.
Someone didn't read the DIRECTIONS page on the website!!!
Doh!

All in all not a very good day for the Carlisle supporters. I don't think we can say this reflects badly on Rovers as a club but it does on the person on the gate. Gatemen are notorious for being jobsworths as those of us who used to attend Park Drive on a sunny Saturday afternoon know only too well.

I may be contradicting my self but SDH must have bought a West match day programme to get the photo's of the first team to add to his sig.

"public land" ... not that old chestnut again ... you are so boring and extrememly repetitious! ... get some new material mate or b*gger off back to the sewage outlet ...
No point in having a "proper rugby club", if you ain't got a proper team!

How did a car load of strangers get through West View unmolested?
