Let's face it we wouldn't have been having this debate this time last year!!!
So the future is looking very good and as OTL has stated the current U17s and U16s have a massive wealth of talent there, that will soon be chomping at the bit to make an impression at the Senior level.

Let Chris and Andy get on with the job.
Think enough has been said here ... IMO!!! :-)

An interesting debate for once and worth reading, but there's a lot of old baggage here, AMS vs West etc. from threads of the past and it really is time to unite as one club.

If the old farts want a run out then resurrect the Euthanasians then they can keep pace with the game and not put too much strain on artificial joints and pace makers. Grevo might actually get a game in the starting 15, that’s Grevo 2 not Grevo 3, No. 3 would still only make the bench.

Hardman could pretend he’s a good drinker after the match just like the old days and Old Man Willa can make the tea at half time.

Great this, didn't think I would get such a response on asking how the lads got. Like someone said earlier, good debate which highlights a potentially great future for the club.
Chris.H where is the match report? you are proving not only a good coach but an excellent reporter.

Please dont get me wrong but if the younger lads are training hard once/ twice a week they surely have to start ...don't they?

Not necessarily no - some people have work and family commitments and are unable to make the training session so does that mean they will never start a game? That is surely unfair - or isn't it??

I understand people have other things on and yes different people will start different weeks but surely those who train must be slightly ahead of those who dont?

those who train should surely start before those who dont, if a player is unable to train they should make the coaches aware of that instead of staying silent and then moaning when the're only getting 20mins at the end of a game!

A few weeks ago the Amateurs were moaning they were not getting enough support from young players now they are complaining there are too many players wanting to play for them. Amazing.

I hear my old mate GF has really done it this time. Get well soon Graham and I am sure this wont be enough to get you to hang up your zimmer frame.

i remember a meeting at the start of the season which every player was asked to go to and it was made quite clear that the people who trained regulary would play infront of those that didnt and if we want the club to go forward surley this is a step in the right direction

Which meeting was this then?

I agree with Henry on this...sorry but how do we progress if lads training do not get a start over lads not training? I know people have other things on but sorry it is the only way forward as i see it. The other lads will still get a run out but ideally we need people out training

The Ams have never had so much publicity - great debate but it's a no brainer in my opinion.

I agree with the majority - if 2 players are fighting for the same starting position the lad who trains should take priority.

I am not convinced the majority of the Ams have any big issues and this debate is just the opinion of the "Life Long Supporter". If it is true these players should make them selves known to the coach's and should not go whispering to supporters who are causing mischief on this web site

Beleive me there was one fat lad on Saturday who made his feelings known.

Not very democratically though.

And most of his gobbing of was to the wrong the people.

So if they way is players who train take priority over those that dont/cant, presuming this is a club wide thing that should leave the 3rds/ams squad made up of almost players who havent trained?

Going on the theory that apparently 40 players train every week. as previously stated.

So its not the majority - just one "fat lad" who needs to talk to the coach.

Matter closed me thinks .

I never said he was the only one.

Did I.

Also there are probably that many out training most weeks

Seems as if you know a lot more that you are letting on old son.

I assume you were not one of the tittle tattlers and if you did hear a whispering campaign you would have duly informed them said individuals to speak to the coach's, instead of whispering to supporters who have nawt to do with team selection.

things are so much better at the club right now and on the up in a big way! i've played 3rd team rugby this season with several players that are capable of becoming 1st team players! based on this i find it ludicrous that some people are not happy or moaning about things! a 4th team is a great idea but couldn't happen right now. as for this debate on players who do not train, the answer for me is obvious, you train you play! this is coming from a player that does not train. last season 'not training' was enough for me to start for the stags and if it now means i cant even start for the 3rd team i totally accept it and dont care as long as this wonderful club of ours keeps progressing!
1st xv, stags and ams lets get some silverware back to the club this season
come on west!!!!!!!!!
