They got a game against the ath, Swally had a good game and so did the scrum half stuey. Good to see the lads putting into practice what we've been working on in training. Good display which is something to build on going into the CANDY league

Well done lads!!!!!

Will get interesting when the Stags can only have 3 replacements for CANDY games. hmmmmm

It would have been more benefical to the club if these players were exposed to the idea that West is a 3-tier club and that there will always be a game of senior rugby available to them on a Saturday, instead of (once again) ignoring that the Amateurs needed players.
Like Quinny says, when the 1st and the Stags can only field 18 players what's going to happen then? A lot of disgruntled players leaving to play for another club? Hopefully not, hopefully they would turn out for the Ams and with the right reporting systems in place and training, these players would get their chance with the stags and higher.
Something needs to be said and done NOW before players are lost.

i am sure the ams would benefit from colts playing 4 them.not fair on ams faithful to not get a game on a saturday.Though i am sure we at the Ath and other local clubs would welcome you if you dont have a game. Best of luck 4 the season 2 come.

LIVE THE DREAM.KEEP THE FAITH and UP THE ATH

To Be fair - no-one from the ams attended training on the Thursday to make arrangements for players also Chris Harrison is away on holiday so the younger players that might have needed a push in the right direction weren't.

Not passing the buck or blaming anyone but communication helps!

also being a colt that has just decided to play for the stags i am one who likes to take my rugby seriously, i to enjoy the social side of it but i want to be in a serious environment for my rugby development, i believe the stags will be alot more beneficial for my development as a player instead of playing for them ams!

Right, firstly sorry for not attending Thursday as i was officially still on holiday!
Secondly stagcolt07, So good of you to choose the Stags as the team to grace your presence with!!! By the way, what happens if your not in the starting 15 or the 3 nominated subs???? You should be playing for West Hartlepool in full!!!! NOT just whichever team takes your fancy! :-!

Shame some of these young uns today didn't have a taste of what it used to be like, when we even managed to get a 7th XV off!
You couldn't pick want team you played for, you played in the team you were picked for!!

It is great to set your sights on the team you want to play for, work hard and you might get there or better still, even higher.

New players to the club, more often than not, had to start at the bottom and work their way up. No player was guaranteed a game for a particular team, as competitition for places was always there. If you were dropped for whatever reason, you worked harder to get your place back.

So if stagcolt07 doesn't get into the Stags team, is he going to play for the West 3rd XV (aka the Ams)?

On the other hand, the Ams need to be more involved in the club. They can't just wait for players to come to them. No one has guaranteed them a glut of new players. The word "assume" comes to mind here - ASS-U-ME!
How many Ams attend Senior training for instance? The Ams game on Saturday was not a good idea, as the Stags already had a game arranged and many players are still unavailable or haven't been attending training. Players numbers will increase as the start of the season approaches.

As WestGirl has said, Chris Harrison has been away and will be able to help getting some of the younger players involved in the Ams team.

Probably too early to be having this debate. Time will tell!

Backrow Boy, i agree with all you write here i think %-) and agree maybe it was not the best to arrange it as it was but not my call.
Yes the Ams players need to take a look at themselves and get their backsides out training with the club. (Maybe not all as some are over 50 you know).
Well said!

Quinny all the lads want to play at the highest level this season and if anyone had opted to play for the Ams it would have sent out a signal to Slob and Southie that thats the level they want to play at. Loads of lads got a runout at Ath watched by all of the coaches.

Chocky's Butler, of course they do but you are missing my point! West are a 3 yes 3 senior team club and if not selected for 1st or 2nd, you must play for the Thirds and try to work and move up the teams!!! My God, how many times do we need to say this?

Well why dont the relevant people sit down with tim, davey and southie and the likes of Les Smith, Peter Olsen etc and talk about this. Rather than moaning on the web site. Quinny i do agree but to stop all the whinghing people have gotta sit down and talk about it
