Rovers just announced on their web site that Stuart Palmer and Michael Taylor have signed up for them.

Just a thought. Where were the benevolent sponsors before just about everyone in the North East heard Darlo were in trouble with paying their players ?

I have no issue with paying players; just be upfront about it.

We don't do it; but in a way perhaps it would be more cost efficient and result in a better calibre of player than the benefits we can offer like free use of gyms etc.

And of course with paying these players Rovers know exactly what they are getting, unlike taking a punt on someone from another hemisphere.

it'll be interesting to see what happens if rovers go down. I don't think that they will go down, but I can't see Craig Lee still being "excited about the direction the club is moving" if they're in D&N1

I would be very shocked if he is still there in Sept regardless if they stay up or go down

It seems to me that Darlington have done the honourable thing in giving these players notice that they will not be paying them next season.
As a result some players have jumped ship and gone to whichever club will look after them to the end of this season.
Presumably they will then spend the summer offering their services to the highest bidder.

Mr Quinn, Why would you be shocked if Craig Lee stayts at Rpovers next season?

He is 35 years old and looking to be involved in the coaching at the club. By all accounts he had plenty of offers for his services and picked Rovers ahead of the likes of Boro (despite the fact that his brother is the coach, and they are certainties for promotion).

You are quite the cynic

Roverite, i was not knocking Rovers with my comment. I have quite a few friends over there. I was meaning that come September he will (probably) as will all the other new signings in the town be off to the highest bidder. I for one am against paying players as i think it spoils it. But hey, that's just my view. ;-)

I wasn't accusing you of knocking anyone at Rovers. Just making the point that the lad is probably getting towards the end of his playing career and has a coaching position at the club.

I do agree that the young lads who have signed may go elsewhere, but with Darlo not paying, Boro is the likely destination. Craig Lee has already knocked back the chance to go there and i don't see many other local teams who could attract a player of his quality.

In my opinion , It is bad management, not paying players that spoils clubs. The lads who get money seem to get accused of being mercenries who don't have as much love for the game as those who get no money.

If you can get paid for doing what you enjoy then fair play. Nobody criticises the lads who make a living out of playing the game full time.

In answer to odd how no one picked west, I thought Howe and Dixon came from the Darlington end of A66.
