Front Row Legend. Dont forget that Horden and Rovers have played recently and its amazing what some will talk about when theyve had a few. You can hardly say Westgarth has done well at Rovers. His only acheivement seems to have been in beatingWest the other week but at the moment everybody is doing that! :oD:oD:oD:oD:oD

Depends who your talking to though doesn't it. There are plenty of folk around who have opinions who are not in a position to know or affect what goes on.

For me Kevin has been fantastic and has brought a culture of hard work and professional behaviour to the club since arriving in less than ideal circumstances in September.

We now have more depth in our squad than in recent times too.

I know I am going back a hell of a lot of posts here but there is a difference between club paying players and sponsors paying players.

As a club revenue is raised from membership, gate receipts and bar takings. This is money paid to the club by players from 1st XV down to the mini's and supporters and is used to maintain and improve the facilities both social and playing at the club, for the benefit of all and to invest in the longevity of the club as it it moves forward.

This money is not used to pay players and should not be as this would essentially be players and supporters paying for there own players.

A sponsor using his/her money to pay players or, provide free shorts and socks, or, tracksuits for the 1st XV, is the reason for sponsorship, its to pay for those things which are immediate. Thats why clubs sell space on the shirts, sell advertising space around the ground etc. actively court new sponsors.

I know it might seem as if I am spliting hairs but my membership money and the money I pay in subs and the money I spend behind the bar, is not paying Craig Lee or whoever and as the membership is the "club", the "club" is not paying players.

Didn't Yuill's sponsor West one time over and pay players, what happened there?

Thikn A.N Others comment has accurately highlighted the issue. Yuill's were indeed sponsers but considering the fact that they built houses on Brierton Lane acted more like owners.

That is the diference. If sponsorship at rovers was revoked the club would largely remain as it is.

Quite understandably many Westies dislike the idea of paying players but as long as its not the be all and end all I don't see a problem.
