I can understand one player going mad but not five at the same time. Aren't they all playing for Darlington?

Maybe Darlo can't afford to keep them anymore?

darlo have gone amature. Franky is at old boys just till the end of season but brown is yet decieded. Chucky and palmer have signed for rovers til end of season. Darlo are going down and they can't afford to play players

Must admit I heard a rumour last week, from a Tynedale player, that there was unrest at Darlington....:-|

Also heard tonight, from another source, that Darlington has decided that they will not be playing players for whatever reason...:-O

So much for loyalty....:(....If a player decides to play for a club and he is getting a few bob then that’s his prerogative but when the going gets tough the least he can do is see the season out. Mercenaries springs to mind. I am glad that when I pulled on a rugby shirt it was to play for a club and my own enjoyment....:-)

Be interested to see what Tynedale decide to do if they get promotion, as at present (as far as I am aware) they don’t pay players anything other that travelling expenses...:-|

All this sounds familiar. Will people not learn from other people’s experiences obviously not?......;-)

loved the article in the mail last night that failed to cover up the fact that Craig Lee is getting paid to join rovers. He says there was only one club that he was going to when he left darlo and that was rovers - thats because rovers are the only club in the town that pay players.

I probably need to clarify again that I'm not against the idea of sponsors paying players to play for clubs, I'm happy enough for any club in the town including west to do it if they want. I just hate the way rovers still persist with this "holier-than-thou" attitude about paying players when they're the only ones actually doing it!

Would you class 'expenses' as paying players then?

A desperate move for Rovers to stay up.

Sorry I didn't write in that he was getting a barrowload of readies!
Of course Craig Lee is being paid, he's a professional.
Had he agreed to West's offer to join you rather than Rovers, then West would have had to pay him.
That's show business
Rovers coaches have been paid for a few years going back to Graham Cook, Peter Robinson etc, but they have been paid via sponsorship rather than out of the till
I suspect many clubs do it the same way and it's a good way of doing it.

like i said roy, I agree that its fine for clubs to do it.

The only problem is that R&O and friends always seemed to act as if it somehow wasn't the same as paying players, when obviously it is. in fact, robok is doing that exact thing on the rovers site now. "rovers aren't paying players. sponsors are paying players"

the bottom line is players are getting played to play for rovers. Good on them. why not just admit it?

We already have three coaches in Stubbs, Beefy and Stabler. Why would we want a fourth?

WPA: Because Craig can play and the other three can't (though obviously they were very good in their day)

Mikey: You are missing the point. Rovers are not paying their players, they are paying their coaches and it is not done from out the till but via sponsors.
