I have said it on another thread even if you don’t go up this year you will next.

If I said this time last year when you were looking at a relegation battle “this time next year you will be safe from relegation and fighting for a playoff place” you would have taken it gladly.

So this year I say:

“This time next year if you are not already in North one you will be in poll position for promotion”

As I said the buzz is back and it appears you have workers in the back rooms not glory seekers. The club is on the up again.

I agree on several parts, regarding wanting promotion and the club is on the up. My only worry is West need to be careful and not allow a few certain people any power within the club who helped the demise of West a few years ago. The people who are running West at the minute are doing a great job and please let us keep it that way

Interesting comment Mr Quinn. No doubt you won't be naming names. But as someone who did a lot on the field and then off it at Brierton Lane I can assure you that for the past ten years I have been a humble supporter and am quite happy to leave it to the present backroom team. Like everyone else they make mistakes but when you consider the strides we have taken over the past couple of years it is remarkable.

this thread has certainly turned very interesting with a lot of reading between the lines required. who would have thought that with a title like "rovers bath night"

Bored Stiff - the attitude I was referring to is the attitude that we don't want to go up. Should we just take it easy for the rest of the season to make sure we don't?

WPA, no i won't be naming names as DP may remove it! and don't knock yourself because without all the supporters the club could not grow and evolve. Also i was not having a go at the existing people running the club as i know they do a very good job, it's just we as a club need to keep aware and not go down the same path as before

i agree the club is going along the right lines now after a difficult time but i cannot lie and not say i enjoyed the few years of sucess. at least i have great memories of going all over the country to the big clubs and seening my club play decent games against them. still that is now in the past and i am grateful for what the backroom staff are doing for the club now, how they kept it going over the last few years god knows. well done to all

I'm not blaming myself for anything. My sentiments are the same as exiled West.

I agree with exiled West and WPA. As an exile myself I cannot support the club as much as I would like to, but if a few more people from the Brierton days would come back into the fold the club really would be booming. Although I have only been in there a few times, I have to say the new clubhouse is excellent and to see the caps, shirts and pictures back up is brilliant.

I think Andy Quinn is concerned that now things are going well a few people who used to be involved in running the club are returning. Not sure that they want anything otrher than a pint though unless AQ knows different?

Never having set foot in the old Brierton lane club I havent a clue what this is all about. There are some new people involved in managing the first team is that what hes on about?

No, not reffering to anyone involved in running the club at present. Just 1 or 2 faces seem to have resurfaced and from my point of view alarm bells ring. not going to name them here but i will be at the first team game on Sat and i will gladly tell anyone who wants to know in person. As i said this is my view only and not the club's

Aw Quinny I will not be at the game on Sat will be on my way to Kuala Lumpur (honest I really will)

As I will know most of them can you give me a hint?

That is apart from the guy in a club blazer I once saw after a game against wasps telling everyone from Wasps who would listen “we are awfully proud of what we have archived here at west” I did ask all the old hands who he was but no one knew.

I can say that I for one welcome anyone who wants to spend money over the bar and I think Quinny is reading far too much into people coming back to support West.

Some folk drifted away as they looked for other watering holes. Now they are comfortable with our club what wrong in them availing themselves of the facility.

Nothing at all and they should be made very welcome at the club. All i am saying is the club needs to be careful as to these 1 or 2 individuals being allowed anything further within the club.
