Its a mans game and a confrontational game so you have to front up first and play later.

No it is a physical game but there is a line where fair play stops and thuggery starts. :-!

mouthy scrum half?? oh dear, you can't really use that one when the sheffield scrum half was the definition of mouthy. His attitude made R&O look like he hasn't got a chip on his shoulder! How many "chats" did the ref have to have with him?
I think it was more a case of him (and others) of getting embarressed by mikey young (and other youngsters) and resorting to cheap shots.

As ex scrum half part of role is to upset the other team but not by encouraging thugs. Mikey was just to difficult for the other players to handle. As for fronting up first and playing later, Sheffield do seem to be leaving it late in the season to start the playing section.

The best way to shut up a "mouthy player" Is to him them hard, if they get up, hit them harder ( talking bout tackles here) and usually if they aint shut up by full time they have got the better of you.

I didn't see the match, but I am very disappointed in what is said here about the tactics of the Sheffield boys. A few years ago Sheffield wanted to play the rugby rather than resort to over-zealous 'physicality'. Frankly, if half of what is said here is true (and I don't think I can argue with the carding stats), then we didn't deserve to win. Good luck for the rest of the season lads.

I gather from a highly reliable source that one or two of our players were identified as being dangermen following the game at Sheffield and were "targeted" early doors as a result. I think that several Sheffield players were guilty of taking this instruction too literally which is why we have had this line of correspondence. I also gather Sheffield are in the process of appointing a new coach so hopefully we won't have similar issues to discucss in the future.
