Agree with the best competition and good debate however suggesting to durham that a club be kicked out is like a footballer gesturing a red card to the ref in footy (Shan Craic). Besides the comp wouldn't be the same without West in it...might give you a chance of getting to the final though!!;). RE Disco...splitting hairs, arguing technicalities to suit ur argument!!! Last post on the subject now though. Carlo

Carlo

It's not splitting hairs or maybe it is because it is not West doing it you can't have it both ways:-

Disco was eligible to play for Rovers when he played last year as he was signed to us.
Gavin Painter is not signed to West......therein lies the argument.

This sums up the problem a lot of people have with West in my opinion "arrogance" we are splitting hairs when we state an argument against you lot.

It is a cup competition if it happened in a league game you would expect to have a case to answer so why is it different in a cup competition. What would the Pyman competition be without West you said what about the Athletic lads are they not equal to West players!

You beat us I can handle that but what you wrote seems very arrogant and I don't think you are that type of bloke! Facts are facts.

Finbar

i dont want to be too quick to condemn West on this one>>>fielding ringers is obviously an addiction for you >>> but resisting the temptation to start the game with Painter G. and Rollins is a definite sign of improvement in your condition>> or was it my suggestion that you wait until it was nearly dark to bring on your ringers that influenced your decision??>>

The rule states that all players have to be members of the club they played for. I can't see the problem as Gavin is a West member.

Maybe next year we'll play Micky Young and Aaron Myres as well !!

Nice to see the banter back again

Just like to point out that none of the Rovers players are saying Gav playing are the reason we got beat, we conceded a lot early on and just gave ourselves too much to do. It was a good physical game and well done to West.

Well said Dan. Unless I am very much mistaken Rovers won the final quarter of the game when both Gav and Rollo were on for the Stags.

SCH. Your comments on the referee are unwarranted and unnecessary.

I feel I should join in just for the nostalgia.

I had heard that GP was thinking of a swallow dive if he scored - now that would have been out of order!

Was a very good game though.

Horden in the final.

Perhaps we can just settle this with Music - 'Disco Inferno' followed by Boney M's classic 'Painter Man'

Fraid I don't know. He's on the verge of another lengthy ban though.

Because the first time in a west rovers semi final as far as I've been spectating we have a referee and 2 assistants all 3 of them done we'll in a local derby to make sure things never got out of hand

If people who are members can play, what about a few other blasts from the past??
Scarratt, Nixon, Stubbs, Stabler ... I could go on.

Robok,

You do realise that you and I posting not long apart on the same thread after a lengthy absence will mean more rumours of us being the same person, especially now you're almost as skinny as me and even more so if you're snarfing off my wifi again.

I started reading comments then thought.............actually all that matters is that a lot of food was prepared and did not reach the mouths of many players who decided to leave. We play RUGBY not football!

Just a thought having been there......

Pyman Cup nights normally mean a player has to rush to the game straight from work and may well have been out of the house since 6am. A lot of players have young families and probably rushed home to do the bit for their family.

No offence is normally intended in this to those who've prepared the food, I always used to make the effort where possible and still have the figure to prove it.

Suspect the above is true rather than any disrespect to the efforts of those preparing the food or your club.

At least it meant that Gordon's Portugese pal got three helpings of pie and peas .
