Same every year, the aftermath of the Pyman Cup.
Whoever ends up losing, including some of our lot when we lose, the websites start kicking off about first team players and ringers playing. I am sure if you had won the game at the death you would be looking at questions about your chosen squad. Gets boring from both camps.
If you want a bite, here we go.
As far as the eligibility is concerned, a player must be a club member and have plyed for the club one or more times.
Gav fits into both of those catagories.
Therefore I presume that as no rules have been broken, you are questioning why he was involved.
Gav for various reasons has not played a lot of Rugby lately and he has trained with us to keep his fitness up. He has also played for the stags on several occasions over the past few seasons when Mowden or Blaydon didnt have a game. As we had a large squad available he went on the bench and was to have a run out only IF we were fortunate to have a healthy lead, so that he could not influence the result, otherwise we would have started him at ten from the KO. Gav wouldnt have gone on if we were chasing the game, your choice whether you want to believe that or not.
As it happens, when we looked like we had and were pulling away from you we put him on and from then on you came back at us and scored most of your points (no influence there then, unless his defence saved the day). You had us under pressure for the full 20 mins he was on.
Anyway this is taking the gloss off a cracking game which ended up being fought to the final whistle when it looked like after 10 mins we would run a big score up.
Two good competitive sides.
This explanation probably wont be sufficient for SCH but there you go.
