R&O " I had a call minutes after the whistle that day from a Boro follower.... was in an excellent position to comment on what happened in front of him."
Was he the guy that ran onto the field then?!

"and more accurate than the intial ramblings on here" - so you decide whats an accurate report of a match you weren't at?

As far as I remember, the "initial ramblings" on here all said chocky was out of line - as reflected by the clubs swift action prior to the rfu hearing

Now then Robok. I'm afraid I just get irritated by one or two people from your club who jump on any bandwagon to stick the knife in.
If someone was at a game and voices an opinion then fine. Heresay is not committed in a court of law and I don't want to see it on this message board especially when it is used to blacken someone's name.
Neil. The panel decide whether an offence is "low, medium or high" depending on the criteria in the RFU handbook. A "high" offence has a base line of a 24 week ban and then they take into account mitigating or aggravating factors, previous disciplinary isssues, etc in either increasing or decreasing the ban.

It does seem odd that whenever something happens at West we get people from Rovers trying to stoke things up. I have looked at Rovers site and nobody from West commented on Mr Powers sending off or suggested he should be banned for a long time. Despite the fact that a few of us were actually there and witnessed it.
I also wonder what barrage of abuse we would have received if one or our spectators had thrown a bottle onto the pitch?

Now then DP

I agree with Robok, there's nothing wrong with anything on this thread.

I do take exception (a la WPA) to your comments, presumably partly or even mainly directed at me. I stand by my, well respected, two contacts and in my first post made a comment about the affect the incident had on the Boro player, and fedback on stamping bans. I don't interpret this as jumping on the bandwagon or sticking the knife in. What did SCH say....'free speech.'

SCH is right, if you Westies are all that bothered, get on our site and start some debate. I don't for one moment think you will since you probably think you couldn't lower yourselves to do post on our site. A pity really, it would give us a chance to throw a paddy too.........

If you are really that bothered, pick up the phone and call me. I won't hold my breath though.

Hey Up DP

I've stopped holding my breath.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not that sad.

It all depends on who your source/sources is/are. Let's agree to disagree, if I thought I could trust you I'd tell you who those people are and then you might sing a different tune and might also get a surprise.

You might also lighten up a little..............................

I'm really not bothered who they are. I've always found that every time a story is retold it gets blown up a little more.

In Chocky's case he admitted his offence, the ref was at the hearing, the video was viewed several times and a verdict reached. End of story.

PS Dont want to ring you at work as they might think you've spent all day on the internet again! Hope you make it to the bar on Boxing Day and I'll buy you a pint of Banks's!

Hey Up Dave

I take your point.

I tell you what, I can't wait. It will taste like nectar and more so if we're toasting a Rovers win!!:-P:-P:-P

I`m honoured at being mentioned by name.

I don't think anything I have said was out of line.If you read my posts its clear that I was not at the game and did not claim to be, or speak with any "authority", it was simply an opinion

I only commented that it seemed fair enough given his past history and
given that the club itself (as you rightly pointed out) saw the incident as serious I think i`m entitled to a defence of fair comment in this case

I fail to see why my opinion is less valid than anyone else's just because i'm a Rover. You shouldn't just assume that i'm causing mischief.

That’s what I really like about the Rovers contingent when they come on this message board, a really well balanced argument/discussion....%-)

Mind you that is mainly due to the fact that they have HUGE chips on BOTH shoulders....:oP

As for Westies posting on the Rovers site.
There is no constructive threads on that site to comment on, and before you say it I don’t think it’s my place to start a constructive rugby thread on your site....:-P

P.S.

Rover&Out. I think we need to look at your medication, as it appears to be clouding your judgment....;-)

For the record Mr SCH you didnt put anybody right. The point I was making was that people in glasshouses should not throw stones. I witnessed Power's sending off but did not think it my business to comment or speculate on what kind of ban he should receive.

Last red card for chocky was over three years ago. So I think that should be taken into consideration as well as his conduct prior to that.
