well done for this ban. charging in when it is not your battle is a nasty offence. how far did he make his charge from?

I wasnt expecting to see him at all again this season given his track record. No doubt our Rovers friends will think he should have been banned for life.

Think that is a fair result particularly given his previous history.

Afternoon all

Wasn't there but heard about the offence from West and Boro fans. It's one thing saying he could return to work the following week but Boro lost one of their best players for three weeks.

Given his record this ban could be construed as lenient. It ought to set him thinking about ensuring he is never sent off again but that's probably a forlorn hope.

As for Robinson, I see in Wellock's Darlington/Mowden Echo today that there's been an eight week ban for a Darlington player for stamping..........

everybody's going on about this "track record" but lets remember that there has been a dramatic improvement in his discipline since his last long ban - he hasn't been in much trouble recently.

I'm not saying that as any sort of argument against the ban though.

Its amazing how week in, week out, R&O's "west" source tells him the opposite of what every other west fan says on here week, and yet he still sees him as the ultimate authority on west

I don't see why anyone should be given credit for "not being in much trouble recently". A senior player with so much experience should be able to control their temper.

It seems like some people in your club don't seem too concerned with bad behavior on the pitch and seem intent on making excuses.

Regardless of what has been posted by people who were there/not there (ususally trying to wind each other up) it must have been a serious incident and been obviously so on the video for a ban of this length.

Sounds like West have handled this matter well.

Will be interesting to see if Hordle follow your example following Saturday's several yellow cards and one red.

Oh, and by the way this isn't an example of " Bad Winning" ( whatever that is?). It was a good hard game with a couple of daft incidents.

Can identify with several well intentioned views on unsavoury comments from a particular coach from South Yorkshire- guess it's sometimes a fine line but when stood on the touchline in an "official " capacity it looks bad. Afraid I had to explain this to him earlier in the season at our place following abuse to our touch judge.

In contrast the Horden support were a pleasure to entertain and excellent company.
Just the way it should be......

Absolutely.
Hope you weren't too near the Fracas in the first half?

Looked like handbags from where I was but our No. 10 probably wouldn't agree!

DP

I haven't had any report from the Tigers match and so can't comment on Robinson and haven't apart from relaying a snippet from the Wellock Echo.

For what it's worth, I looked up a few stamping bans on the RFU site after our trip up the Coast Road and the 'norm' seems to be 3 to 8 weeks. Horden's Greenlaw got a two match club ban; this Darlo lad has got 8......

Thus far I can see no reason for censorship visits......no-one from Rovers has gone OTT at all yet.......

Monkey Boy

The reason why my source is reliable and says different things to the blinkered Westies on here is that, even as a Westie (and ex player), he tells it how it is and not through green, red & white tinted specs (you want to try it sometime). Because of the family nature of the site I can't repeat word for word what he told me but I value his opinion and also his views on Rovers who he watches when West are away.

Regarding Chocky and your 'un-named forward' against Boro, the same person fed back to me on that and, just as importantly, I had a call minutes after the whistle that day from a Boro follower. He didn't know of Chocky's 'previous' and so had no long standing axe to grind but was in an excellent position to comment on what happened in front of him.

What do you know.....................their versions of events were just about identical.................and more accurate than the intial ramblings on here.

Thanks R&O for sticking up for me and the rest of the rovers on here. My comment was not designed to "cause mischief" and was a response to the post from mikeyboy above.

If you don`t want people from other clubs to comment on what was clearly a serious incident then I suggest you close the message board down or alternatively don't begin a new thread entitled "Davies Banned".

Regarding my previous post I did not suggest that the club itself had behaved improperly (by rights you had no choice but to ban him) but was refering to some of the fans who have posted on the board who no doubt would've been harping on about this for ages had West's star player been flattened by another teams resident hard case.

I've never heard of such a long ban! We're obviously better behaved in rural east yorkshire!

I think there has to be acceptance that Chocky's disciplinary record over the years wouldn't work in his favour, but I reckon the ban, starting from the LSH game is about 20 weeks. As the club acted promptly and decisively in implementing an 8 week ban, I'm somewhat surprised that the ban now implemented is 2.5 times this. Presumably there are precendents which dictate that this length of ban is consistent I'm not sure just how such a decision is made, as the length of bans seem to vary to a significant degree, for reasons which aren't always apparent. Whilst I don't particularly follow the English (?) Premiership, my feeling is that bans at the highest level appear to be more lenient than in the lower leagues. I don't know if this view is justified?
Can anyone explain how bans are determined or point to any web links which explain.

Nah a fields width away :-) ... just a bit of pushing and shoving. The referee was totally out of his depth. And if the red card was for a punch, does that mean there was only one punch thrown in that whole fracas? Silly silly decision. :-|
