Just for reference, the team that played last night is detailed below. To give you an idea of what's involved in organising teams for mid-week games, this squad showed nine changes to the one that played two days earlier against Mowden Park.

A Foreman
Z Southern
D Thomas
P Hodgson
P Moss
D Tighe
R Painter
C Hadwen
A Dixon
R Wood
B Lloyd
J Baggs
A Barker
N Myers
P Henderson

G Robinson
P Miller
A Coates

Well done to all the players for a good performance, Horden is always a difficult place to go and although it wasn't pretty it was still a good win.

I don't for one second doubt the hard work put in by the coaches, and team managers, nor the difficulties in getting rugby players to train, turn up on time, or choose which games they want to play in and the ones they don't.
At the end of the day it should be their teammates who let them know if they are letting the side down.

The balancing act for the coaches is finding the right player for the right position so that all of the West teams field competitive sides.
I gather the major issue yesterday was not shortage of players but the fact that lots of lads wanted to play which is a credit to them, the coaches and the club.

Just the one ringer that played?

If there was lots of lads who wanted to play (I assume they were players who have been in and around the Stags all season) then why play a player who has played the 90% of the first XV matches and is probably the top try scorer!?

Some of the other lads who have been "in and around" the Stags this season are playing tonight for the Bucks.
The first team player you are referring to is on his way back from a serious injury and has been playing for the Stags as part of his comeback.
I'm assuming he played out of position at full back because there weren't a lot of players for that particular position.
No doubt the coaches could give you chapter and verse if you really wanted it.

Why not play players who have played all year for the Bucks....in the Bucks and players who have played all year for the Stags....in the Stags and preserve the nature of the competition? Would be interested to see the squad for tonight and then look at where they have played the majority of their rugby all season.
