Any sign of a team ?

I,m sure you understand CB that those in the squad will have been notified,we will be waiting on availability even now I guess.Should I post this again tomorrow in case the bucks squad is not posted ?

Well why do we bother putting the weekend teams on here on a Friday then? Is it only midweek teams that are secret? Are there third team players wondering if they may be needed tonight but haven't had a text? Are there supporters wondering who is playing?

I am always interested specially as I watch the Stags when the firsts are away.
I also think the lads deserve to see their names on the website. In the old days the teams always went in the night Mail and it was good to see your name in print.

I agree, it's crap and no wonder no ones going in the bloody place when we dont even advertise there are games on!! Yes i know tonights game is away but come on team pickers!!! Get the squads on here!!!

It will probably be similar to this squad which went to Morpeth- although a few lads have work commitments.

All the players representing the Stags tonight have been informed. Getting players for mid-week fixtures is always a bit of a challenge so there's no point putting a team up that's continually evolving.

Don't think putting the team up really 'advertises' the fixture, there's been enough on here about the game as it is.

Sounds like you dont want to publicise the ringers.

Forgive me but this is a contradiction in terms. Are you saying the players know they have been picked but leaving you to guess whether they can play or not?

yes, people work for a living. If you want to help texting, calling, I'm sure we could find you something to do....

WPA, how it works is that we pick a team, based on information received and let those players know they are selected. From here we may get a number of players who become unavailable, this is especially prevalent in a mid-week game when work, college or family commitments have more of an influence. We then look to replace these players and the cycle continues until we arrive at our final team.

No different to my day when we would have said last Saturday "right who can make it next Tuesday." We'd have then selected the starting 15 and named the travelling reserves. As you say come kick off time there would invariably have been one or two changes but not many.

I always liked to see my name in the Mail, usually in the court reports. When it was there in a team, I was always AN Other or SO Else.

Great comments from people who dont have a clue what it is like to try to organise a team at our club (Quinny you should know). I would be more than happy to give whoever would like to try it, Sid, Cam and Sos`s phones (and their bills) to see if they could do any where near as good a job.

WPA, forget about your usual "in my day" comments, those days I can assure you are very much gone!!

Rant shortened due to work constraints.

Dont forget the 4ths phone,some one can have that.The 4ths are last in the pecking order and have on occasions cancelled at a very late hour due to having 6/7 players.Sos has tried throughout the season not to disrupt or take from the 4ths but still we struggle with availabilities,more than once we have travelled with those 6/7 and with the help of the home club have managed to get a run out.Uncontested is the way forward especially if I have to go in the front row(ouch)

Olly, i wasn't having a go as i do know how hard it is but i do think we should put on there is a game and we need the players to commit earlier so we can get the teams on well in advance.

Agree totally Quinny, the game should be put on the website, putting a team on that you are confident will be THE team at short notice (midweek game) is difficult. You can get a commitment on a Saturday but you will know it can and does all change by Tuesday. Daves list of names above might have stopped the thread but he will not have known if it was correct.
