You realise that none of your teams can now compete in this season's county cups? Poor show.

I am told that we knew the consequences but literally had no props who could play on that night. Seems harsh on the sstags and bucks but I suppose rules are rules.

I am sure there will of been 4 front row players in the club available

We had two props but that was it so nobody qualified to go the bench. Gather westoe were also struggling for props but it was us who had to call it off.

Does this also mean the the stags will not be able to defend the Pyman Cup?

4 teams no props seems strange

Do you think Karlos could have played at that level?

Know what to do next year, take props who arent capable then have them go off after 2 minutes and then go uncontested.

it does seem harsh that a out of season game dtops the rest of your teams in the cups

I know what your saying about the pyman cup but it is shown on the durham rfu website so they may have a ruling on that too.

It seems an idiotic way to organise the County Cup to arrange the first round in the middle of August. The players train hard enough all season and have to be allowed a bit of time for holidays. It also encourages clubs to put forward props who may not be good enough to play at that level.

Agree with the timing of this round Stan. The season should start on the first Saturday in September. I know the weather has caused disruption 2 seasons running now but the 6 weeks that the schools are off means that player availability is always low.

The local RFU has run a few good initiatives to keep people involved during this summer but there just aren't enough bodies around this time of year for competative games for teams that a largely still amateur.

I do however like the idea of penalising the club as a whole for withdrawing as late withdrawals has made a joke of the county cups in recent years and it will make clubs think seriously before withdrawing just to avoid a hard game which they know they will lose (I'm not saying that West have ever done this, but teams have done it against teams I have played for in the past) in favour of a league game the following week.

Might of been worried about playing against you jimmy!! Not sure I speak for all players but I have been around long enough to gauge a good consensus; this cup is and has been in recent years a bit of a non entity. The lads are not particularly bothered about the outcome of each match other than the inert dislike of defeat in any game and not about the progression within the cup. Wether this is right or wrong, it's probably true but I do not believe it warrants punishment of the rest of the teams in a club if a first team have to call off a game. Would the same happen if the bucks had to call off a cup game?? The way I see it is teams and clubs make Durham rfu not the other way around, especially in this day and age.

"Rules and regulations are for the use of fools and the guidance of wise men" Come on County wise up both in timing of games and USE of rules and regulations!!!

Nonsense

Rule break = Out

Still means the Ams will be in as they are not part of "west"

The county have already enforced this rule as Durham University were unable to raise a side for the senior cup and there for did not enter the competition all their other sides were not allowed to enter any of the other Durham cup draws.

Shouldn't be in the cup anyway it's supposed to be a club competition!
