Now here is a point that is worthy of debate.

A player offends all day for something, lets say hands in a ruck or offside.

The ref see's fit to speak to him/her, then yellow card them, speak to them further and tell them any more and it will be red and they continue to offend and get the red that was promised.

Is this any less of an offence than a single solitary event of unpremeditated foul play that does not injure a player but still warrants a straight red.

That Myers is just too quick for his own good. I'm afraid that his coaches at West, Falcons, North of England and England have a duty to slow him downto make it easier for Referees.

For the avoidance of confusion the scenario I posted at 20.12 is purely hypothetical and is not based upon any actual events.

Perhaps teaching a flanker to listen to a ref is impossible.....

persistent infringement is not in the same league as violence on the field of play

totally agree, i reckon the sending off is punishment enough and no way should he have to serve a ban of any sort

I have to disagree. persistant cheating like FRLE referred to in his example is much more annoying for supporters/players etc, particularly when an individual has been warned time and again.

I`m not saying violent acts shouldn't be punished but they are often in the heat of the moment and in retaliation for another offence.

I dont see why persistant cheating shouldn't result in a ban.

I heard he was just too quick and the ref thought he was off side but he wasn't

i was to quick for the referee half the time he would have his back to me qand turn around and asume i had came from an offside position if it was any one spoiling the game it would have been the referee and his lack of knowledge and control at the breakdown

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't flankers supposed to be offside all the time, just like all scrum-halfs are supposed to referee the game and wingers don't tackle.
I don't understand the fuss

And by the same token Roy, aren't Referee's always supposed to spoil the game for everyone else?

After the game Mr Lee actually started a debate by commenting on both sets of yellow cards before any of the Sheffield or West officials ventured onto the subject. His view was that Aaron played "on the edge" - which I think any flanker would take as a compliment.
